A Message from Pastor Smith
Friday, March 20, 2020
Brothers and sisters,
For at least the next two weeks (March 22 and 29), we will host our worship services through livestream only. We made this tough decision after a lot of prayer, consultation with the church elders, consultation with our brothers and sisters in other congregations, and consideration of the ever-unfolding events around the coronavirus epidemic.
We do not make this decision out of fear, but rather out of a desire to love our neighbors and protect those who may be vulnerable and at risk. The best information that we have right now is that minimizing the number of physical contacts we have is the best way to slow the spread of this virus.
Our music team and I will still livestream from our sanctuary as long as we are allowed. The livestream will be available on the Covenant-First Presbyterian Church Facebook page. You don’t have to have a Facebook account to view the livestream (when the window pops up in the middle of your screen asking you to log in or create an account, simply click “Not Now”). The Facebook page is found here:
I know this is disappointing for many in our congregation who were looking forward to being in our sanctuary on Sunday. I also know that we look forward to fellowshipping with one another. For the time being, please reach out to one another via phone and text - share prayer concerns, encouraging Scripture verses, and uplifting jokes and quips.
A repeated refrain in Scripture is “do not be afraid.” Let us cast our anxieties upon the Lord, expressing our worries in our prayers, trusting that He will give us the strength and courage to face this day’s challenges. Let us look to Him who is our strength and shield. Through the challenges of this season, may we all grow in faith, hope, and love.
Soli Deo Gloria
